Man City, Wolves & Southampton managers face quarantine problems

How viable is ‘Project Restart’ when clubs like Man City, Wolves and Southampton may have to operate with their managers in quarantine?

In the Times on Tuesday, reporter Tom Roddy has looked into possible self-isolation issues swirling around the Premier League.

It’s revealed that the managers of four Premier League clubs could all be forced into 14-day isolation before they’d be allowed to return to Premier League action.

Starting with Man City, Pep Guardiola is currently in Spain following the death of his mother from Covid-19.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is in Portugal, as are some of the Wolves coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl and Norwich City manager Daniel Farke are both in Germany.

 

Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson unlikely to be banned

At Crystal Palace, manager Roy Hodgson is facing a different problem regarding ‘Project Restart’.

Aged 72, the oldest manager in the Premier League is facing the prospect of being banned from all football activities.

However, the Independent believe that Hodgson would be given special permission to return to work:

Crystal Palace are understood to be confident Roy Hodgson will not be barred from managing the team on safety grounds should football be able to restart after the current coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

 

Plenty of Premier League footballers are also abroad right now

Will Premier League footballers who left the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic also be forced into 14-day isolation?

That issue also affects plenty of teams in the English top flighta as reported in the Times.

Man City have at least 8 players abroad, including  Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, Fernandinho, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and David Silva.

Wolves have 5 players out the country, Norwich have 2 players abroad, while Tottenham’s Son Heung-min is back in South Korea to complete his mandatory military service.

The Times also note that players from Brighton and Southampton also left the UK before the lockdown.
