Arsenal beaten by Frankfurt
Arsenal played host to German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday evening.
The tie was Arsenal’s penultimate Europa League group game of the season and should they have won or drawn the tie, they would have secured their place in the EL round of 32.
The Gunners had the better of the exchanges in the opening 45 and eventually took the lead shortly before the interval thanks to standout star, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal also had a smattering of key chances early in the second half. And with around 50 minutes gone the North London outfit probably should have been two or three goals to the good.
However, Arsenal were punished for failing to capitalise on their early dominance as Frankfurt equalised 55 minutes in.
The Bundesliga outfit then took the lead with 64 minutes on the clock and that is how the tie finished.

Emery’s time at Arsenal coming to an end?
The majority of Arsenal’s second-half display vs Frankfurt was rather underwhelming and may have been the final straw for Unai Emery at Arsenal.
The Gunners are now a staggering seven games without a win across all competitions.
And now, on Friday morning, reliable journalist David Ornstein is reporting for The Athletic that it is increasingly likely that Emery will be sacked today.

When speaking about his future in his post-match press conference on Thursday Emery was rather coy.
When asked if he thinks he will remain in charge, Emery gave this rather vague response:
“I am thinking about the next match and analysing that match and the Europa League, and thinking about Sunday and how we can improve and achieve that confidence with the players.
“The players now are a little down in their feelings, but if we continue and can achieve a performance like the first half, I think that is the way.” As quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
