Man United hammer Newcastle
Manchester United were in action against Newcastle on Thursday the 26th of December.
The Red Devils headed into the tie on the back of a rather embarrassing 2-0 defeat vs relegation-battling Watford.
And Man United typically don’t have the best record this term against teams bellow them in the league, which Newcastle were.
It also looked as though Man United were set for another tough afternoon when Matthew Longstaff fired the Magpies into the lead with 17 minutes on the clock.
However, the Manchester powerhouse would fight back an equalised just seven minutes later.
Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford then added two more for United shortly after, giving them a comfortable 3-1 lead before the interval.
Anthony Martial then put the result beyond doubt in the 51st minute, making it 4-1.

McTominay update
However, despite their emphatic victory, Manchester United did suffer one big blow on Thursday.
Scott McTominay has been an integral member of Man United’s midfield recently but the Scotsman was taken off at half-time vs Steve Bruce’s side and reportedly left the stadium on crutches.
Scott McTominay went off at half-time and he’s just left the stadium on crutches. Doesn’t look good.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer has since provided an update on the midfielder.
OGS stated that McTominay has probably done his ligament in his knee with Solskjaer unsure if he will have the midfielder back for Saturday:
“He’s done his ligament in his knee, probably. We don’t know how bad it is, so let’s see.
“The boy has got the biggest heart of the lot. He played until half-time but we know when they stiffen up after. We’ll have to find out tomorrow, how he is.
“You see the attitude of the kid, of everyone, in the beginning of the game. I’m not sure if he’ll be ready for Saturday [against Burnley]. Probably not, but we’ve seen him recover before.” As quoted by Manchester United’s official website.
