Why Indian People Love Chinese Mobile??
“Made in China”, how many times a day we see this tags, labels or stickers around us. Gone are the days when Chinese products were measured as cheap and low-quality products. Even big companies like Apple Inc. are taking advantages of the Chinese supply chain efficiencies to reap higher margin by keeping costs low. Hence, China is called as ‘the World’s Factory’.
The number of smartphone users in India is expected to reach 990 million by 2020, up from about 640 million in 2015, according to Cisco, and Chinese vendors have recognized the huge opportunity ahead, particularly with growth flat-lining back home. The following chart shows usage of mobile phones in India from 2014- 2019.
Suppose if I ask, Which Company mobile you are using??
In most of the cases I will get an answer like Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, one plus, Gionee, Huawei or Lenovo.
Chinese companies have an upper hand in India. In both countries, brand loyalty runs very low, experts say. By default, all vendors end up competing on price and specs, such as hardware, RAM, and optical lenses, and have to tailor their designs for audiences that value aesthetics and features but are unwilling to pay more than a fraction of the cost of an iPhone. The Chinese brands have mastered the art of targeting their customers. The following chart shows how Indian customer love Chinese Mobiles.

Why Chinese Mobile Brands are very Popular??
Simple answer is "Nice Features with Less Cost". If Chinese companies can build a mobile phone with large number of features and less cost then why India can't??. There are so many reasons for that. I will discuss one by one.
1. No Microprocessor Unit.
We don't have company or branch of a company like Intel or Qualcomm or Speadtrum or Mediatek manufacturing in India. Imports are costly. Republic of China has Taiwan. Taiwan owns mediatek. And Few big companies like Acer, Asus And HTC. Processors hence are cheap.
2. No Displays or panel manufacturers in India.
Do we have companies which can supply the display or IC or Motherboards to phone companies?. We have to import it from other countries like China.
3. No plastic Industry of Standard Quality.
We have plastic industries but we don't have industries that build best quality fibres and plastic which are very essential for manufacturing Mobiles.
4. Research and Development.
Consider a new mobile by Oppo that is OPPO FIND X. Literally they showed the world How is it Done!. They worked for 2 years. And They developed something that American Companies or Japan Companies might have just thought it. Chinese Government support Research and development and they spend huge amount of money for that. Our government allotted just 150 crores for R&D. Even if we start, We can't match Chinese manufacturing because they started with Sigmatel and E-comm, bee fone, G-five like companies but now they have evolved in Professional development.
Along with these issues there are other issues like various government policies, labor issues etc.
Is it Safe to Use Chinese Mobile??
When it comes to China and Pakistan the first thing that comes into our mind is Rivalry. There were rumors that Chinese Mobile companies stealing our information and providing it to Government. A recently discovered vulnerability in many budget Chinese handsets, which could allow an attacker to gain root access. Here’s what you need to know.
Many phones run SoCs (System On Chip) built by Taiwanese-based MediaTek, who are one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world. In 2013, they produced a phenomenal 220 million smartphone chips. One of their biggest sellers is the MT6582, which is used in a number of low-end smartphones, with many of them produced by Chinese manufacturers like Lenovo and Huawei. The MT6582 came with a debug setting enabled, which according to the manufacturer, was used to test “telecommunications interoperability” in China. While this was necessary for MediaTek to actually design the chip, and to ensure it works properly, leaving it on a consumer device represents an incredible security risk to consumers. Why? Because it allows an attacker, or a malicious piece of software, to gain root access to the phone. From this, they would be able to modify and delete important system files and settings, spy on the user, and install yet more malware without the user’s consent. If an attacker wanted, they could even brick the phone, rendering it permanently unusable.
According to me, we can't believe or we can't trust Chinese Mobiles, Still they are best in market. Ya!!! We can buy Chinese Mobiles but we should take care of safety of our information.
Can Indian Mobile Companies Survive??
If this continues then I don't think so!!!. "The government should be more supportive of their people." Narendra Bansal, founder of Intex Technologies, an Indian technology company that was the second largest mobile vendor in the country by volume less than two years ago, pleaded earlier this year. In the plea, Bansal - alongside chief executives of other Indian smartphone vendors like Micromax and Karbon Mobiles - accused Chinese smartphone vendors of dumping low-cost smartphones in India, making it tougher for the local businesses to survive. The government should introduce an "anti-dumping" duty on such phones, the CEOs suggested. "Every child needs hand-holding by their parents," Bansal said at the time. Over the past two years, Indian smartphone vendors have lost about 35 percent of the market to Chinese companies. Just two years ago, Micromax, Karbon Mobiles, Lava and other local players had more than 54 percent market share, according to data from marketing research firm Counterpoint. In the quarter that ended in June this year, Chinese players had surpassed 50 percent of the market for the first time in India since entering the nation, according to IDC. In past few months, the #boycottchinaproducts hashtag has been trending on social media to create a populist belief in India; however, a major Indian smartphone market chunk is still dominated by Chinese smartphone brands. With the help of ‘Make In India’ initiative, the Chinese companies have been acquiring/venturing with the Indian mobile manufacturers and giving a tough fight to the native smartphone brands. I hope Indian mobile companies will survive against Chinese Companies.
