Why Kieran Trippier left Tottenham
Over the weekend, Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid 7-3 in a pre-season friendly.
Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa scored four goals before being sent off.
At the other end of the pitch, England international Kieran Trippier featured for the Rojiblancos.
Trippier signed for Atletico a couple of weeks ago in a deal worth around 20 million pounds.
After the Real Madrid match, Trippier spoke about why he left Spurs this summer.
The right-back has suggested that the full story over his Tottenham exit has yet to come out. Trippier said:
It was time for me to change and move on.
I don’t necessarily mean that I needed to move on, but things happened behind the scenes at Spurs.
I needed to move on from that.
"Things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham…I needed to move on from that."
