Man United are still in the market for Liverpool target Timo Werner
After his hat-trick last weekend against Mainz, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner couldn’t find the target on Wednesday in a 2-2 home draw with Hertha Berlin.
Werner nevertheless remains the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga on 24 goals, while he’s coveted by some of the biggest teams in the Premier League.
For months, Liverpool have been name checked as leading the race to sign Werner in the next transfer window.
That’s lead to plenty of back and forth in the media, with Leipzig issuing a statement this week that Werner’s price tag won’t be reduced in the current coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday, ESPN added some spice in the race to sign Werner, by reporting that Man United remain in the market for the 24-year-old German international.

Will Man United actually sign Wener ahead of Liverpool?
ESPN have their doubts. Readers are told:
Werner, who has scored 30 goals in 38 games for Leipzig this season, is on the list of players being watched closely by United’s recruitment department even though there is a belief within the club that he is more likely to end up at Liverpool if he decides to move ahead of next season.
Perhaps the big takeaway in this story for Man United fans is that the club are looking to add a striker to their roster.
It’s noted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer “remains keen to revamp his forward line”.
Marcus Rashford’s positive back update
