RB Leipzig warn Liverpool that Timo Werner’s isn’t getting cheaper

Liverpool fans might want to tune into the Bundesliga action on Wednesday night as RB Leipzig take on Hertha Berlin.

Leipzig should be full of confidence in the game, following last weekend’s 5-0 demolition of Mainz and Dortmund’s defeat last night against Bayern Munich.

After a 4-game barren run, Timo Werner ended his mini goalscoring drought with a hat-trick last Saturday.

Werner is now on 24 goals in the Bundesliga, three behind the league’s top scorer, Robert Lewandowski.

“He’s not getting any cheaper”

For months, Liverpool have been linked with a possible move for Werner in the next transfer window.

However, in the build up to Leipzig’s match with Hertha, their CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has sent a warning to the Reds over Werner’s price tag:

He’s not getting any cheaper. We will not sell a player below value if he is under contract for over a year.

The 24-year-old is under contract until 2023.

How much would Liverpool have to pay for Timo Werner?

According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool already know how much Werner costs:

Contrary to reports, the release clause in the striker’s contract – which stands at €60m (£52.7m) – is still valid.

Jordan Henderson looks forward to winning the title

On Tuesday night, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson spoke to BBC 5 Live radio.

During his interview, Henderson discussed what it’s like being back at work during the pandemic.

He also offered thoughts on what it may feel like if Liverpool win the Premier League title without any fans to celebrate with:

Of course it would feel different because if you win any trophy and receive it without any fans there, it would be pretty strange.

It is still not over. We still have work to do and we still need to perform at a high level right the way until the season finishes because we want to finish as strongly as we can to make sure it is a full season.

After that, whether we win it or whatever, then [receiving] the trophy and the fans not being there… you just have to deal with it when it comes. Hopefully it does happen. We are still in a very good position.

It will mean we have won the Premier League and we will all be very happy but then we can look to the future – and whenever fans are allowed back into the stadium, I am sure we will have some sort of celebration together.
