The football school
After a win away at PSG, Manchester United have put, what looked on paper, the toughest tie of the group stage behind them. However, Wednesday’s game at home to RB Leipzig will be no easy fixture.
Leipzig have risen to become one of the best teams in the Bundesliga through a transfer model focussed on youth talent. Avoiding signing players over the age of 23, Leipzig has become a school of excellence for developing players.
Leipzig’s sister club Red Bull Salzburg often produces players which go on to play in Germany. The likes of Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, Hwang Hee-Chan, Peter Gulacsi, Amadou Haidara, Kevin Kampl and Marcel Sabitzer have all featured for the Austrian champions.
Leipzig has seen major income from developing young stars. Timo Werner and Keita both left for large Premier League figures. However, despite the perpetual turnover of talent, Leipzig have maintained quality. Becoming a competitive side not just in Germany but Europe too.

United face last season’s Champions League semi-finalists. Beaten well by PSG but the German club are certainly not to be underestimated.
Missing talent
However, Leipzig have been given some difficult news ahead of their key clash with United. As many as four players could be missing for Julian Nagelsmann according to reports emanating from Germany.
Versatile defender Nordi Mukiele, who has featured mainly at right-back, is expected to be out after suffering a thigh injury in the weekend match against Hertha Berlin.
Being replaced by Marcel Sabitzer, it is likely Benjamin Henrichs will deputise with Lukas Klostermann another absentee. Konrad Laimer, who has not featured so far this season, remains out. Plus, Amadou Haidara tested positive for coronavirus and will also be out for the trip to Old Trafford.

Leipzig still have plenty of talent to cover the absentees but the missing quartet are a blow for Nagelsmann who began their group stage with a comfortable win over Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.
