Ronaldo ‘did not respect’ coronavirus protocols and is now under investigation / Ronaldo claims any suggestion of misconduct is ‘a lie’

“No one is exempt”

Ronaldo has had an eventful couple weeks despite not stepping foot on the pitch. The Portuguese icon tested positive for coronavirus over a week ago whilst away on international duty.

Since, the Juventus forward decided to fly back to Italy whilst infected with the virus. This has angered Italy’s Sport Minister who spoke to Rai Radio about the 35-year-old’s breach of regulations.

When asked whether Ronaldo has breached any guidelines, Vincenzo Spadaforo said, “Yes, I think so, if there were no specific authorisations from the health authority.”

“Cristiano did not respect the protocol. There is an investigation by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office to prove it.”

“The virus has taught us that no one is exempt, obviously they are all people who have tried to respect the protocols as much as possible, but the only solution in the end is to stay at home.”

Ronaldo has been spotted previously not wearing a mask in stadia, needing to be told by staff members to wear it.

Ronaldo refutes

Ronaldo however has denied all claims of a rule break. Consistently posting images and videos on his Instagram page from his home in Italy. Ronaldo maintains that all procedures were correctly followed in line with the authorities.

Speaking on his Instagram page he said, “I’m always at home, now I’m sunbathing, also to let the days pass. I’m respecting the protocol, I did not break it, as has been said: It’s a lie.”

“I returned from Portugal because my team and I made sure to comply with all the procedures. I returned to Italy by air ambulance and I have had no contact with anyone, even in Turin.”

His family who remained in Italy when he travelled to meet up with the national side have also been considered by the 35-year-old. “My family is on another floor of the house, we can’t be in contact,” Ronaldo remarked.

The Juventus talisman will now await the outcome of the investigation and any sanctions which could come his way.
