Sergio Aguero reveals Man City’s training restart date

On Wednesday night, Man City and Argentine international striker Sergio Aguero gave an interview to Spanish TV show El Chinguirito.

During the conversation with reporter Jose Alvarez, Aguero confirmed that Man City aim to be back in training by May 4. He said:

Around 15 days ago we were informed that the projected date for a return to training was to be 4 May but there are still meetings ongoing surrounding the matter.

Aguero shares his Covid-19 fears

While Man City’s training has been pencilled in, Aguero also shared his concerns for going back to work:

When we go back to train there is bound to be a certain degree of tension but there is still no certainty as when we resume competitive games.

Thoughts about the Real Madrid vs Man City tie

Man City are halfway through their Champions League last-16 tie.

Pep Guardiola’s charges won the away leg in Spain 2-1, however it’s unclear whether the return leg in Manchester will happen.

The Man City vs Real Madrid second leg is currently scheduled for August 7.

Aguero made the following comments about the Real Madrid match:

If the Champions League is played in August it will be difficult.

We would like to play the return leg with Madrid in public (with fans in the stadium). It is not easy. We have a good result [from the first leg].

Aguero’s future at Man City & Leo Messi

The Man City striker also made a few other eye-catching comments.

On his ongoing future with the Sky Blues, Aguero commented:

I have a year and a half left on my contract.

Aguero was also asked for his opinion on Leo Messi’s future at Barcelona. He said:

Leo is a player who is already a symbol and legend of Barcelona, but things happen in football.

Many players have changed for Leo and he stayed at Barcelona. He loves the club, he identifies with Barcelona, he is comfortable and happy.

No matter how many things happen, he will continue. Unless something catastrophic happens.
