Speculation in the media this weekend has hinted at Leeds United interest in the respective backup goalkeepers at Manchester United and Arsenal.
Leeds promoted
Following a 16-year absence, Leeds’ long awaited return to the top-flight of English football was finally confirmed last week.
West Brom’s 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield proved exactly what was needed for the Whites, to make sure of their spot in the Premier League for the 2020/21 campaign.
Bielsa’s men were subsequently also crowned Championship champions with a week to spare, following a 3-1 victory over Derby County.

PL rival raid?
As such, while celebrations are no doubt set to carry on for weeks amongst Leeds’ players and staff alike, once the dust settles, attentions will soon switch to building a squad capable of holding their own back at the top of the English game.
Marcelo Bielsa will of course be keen to add to the unquestionable talent already at his disposal, to avoid suffering a similar fate to previous Championship holders Norwich City, who are set for a swift return to the 2nd-tier.
And, as outlined above, an insight into some of the potential arrivals at Elland Road this summer has this weekend been forthcoming.
The targets outlined both come in the form of goalkeepers, currently plying their trade with top Premier League clubs.
As reported by TYC Sports (citing the British press), the Whites have set their sights on securing the signature of one of Sergio Romero or Emiliano Martinez this summer.
Romero has of course long stood as David de Gea’s backup at Manchester United, though the potential return of Dean Henderson in the near future could open the door for the Argentine international’s departure.

Arsenal No.2 Martinez, meanwhile, has thoroughly impressed over recent weeks, having been handed the opportunity to showcase his talents on a consistent basis on the back of the long-term injury picked up by Bernd Leno.
Interestingly, both rumoured Leeds targets come in the form of fellow countrymen of Marcelo Bielsa, though it remains to be seen whether either will be made available for transfer, especially to a Premier League rival, over the coming months.
