Man United 2 – Burnley 2
Manchester United staged a remarkable late comeback against Burnley on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
2-down in the 86th minute, Man United scored two late goals to earn a share of the spoils.
Victor Lindelof scored the crucially leveller in second half injury time.
Prior to that, Paul Pogba slotted home an 87th minute penalty.
Did Jesse Lingard dive vs Burnley?
Man United’s penalty wasn’t without controversy.
Jesse Lingard stands accused of going down too easily following a touch from Jeff Hendrick in the Burnley box.
For the record, Hendrick was in a terrible position to try to defend against Lingard.
The winger’s position was all wrong as Lingard managed to sneak in goal-side behind Hendrick.

But when it came to the actually contact between the pair, was it minimal?
TV replays clearly showed that Hendrick touched Lingard by his shoulder.
But was that really enough to sent Lingard crashing to the deck?

What Sean Dyche said about Lingard
Burnley boss Sean Dyche questioned the merit of Man United’s penalty after the game. He said:
I don’t like to see penalties when they touch you on the shoulder and all of a sudden your legs don’t work, I’m not a fan of that, but we know that happens..
Liverpool fans are furious plus Jon Moss backlash
You know where this is going, right?
In recent weeks, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been accused of diving.
As a result, after Liverpool fans saw how Lingard won Man United a penalty, there was a significant amount of online backlash.
Wonder if Richard Keys will bush Lingard for diving. Probably not cuz he doesnt play for Liverpool and his name isnt Salah pic.twitter.com/Se3tnsUfMg

There’s no way that causes Lingard to fall like that. Embarrassing. #twitterclarets pic.twitter.com/J5FhAMsqKM

You’ve really got to be a special kind of deluded or blind to not see Lingard clearly pulled back here. Salah goes down without contact. There’s a clear difference, but I wouldn’t expect anything else from a Liverpool fan. https://t.co/BbLTj0TiMw

Sakho “literally” pulls Salah down by the shoulder. Same as what happened to Lingard and you don’t think there the same. Take your Red Devil Glasses off for a second and admit that both went down because of contact initiated by defenders and both were soft fouls pic.twitter.com/muZEurS0HT

The Lingard penalty. Given that it is a softer penalty that the one Salah got vilified for against Newcastle, I’m looking forward to the week long replays of it on @SkySports and debate from “experts” as to whether Lingard is damaging his reputation with those kind of antics…
