How Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid limbo affects Man United & Bruno Fernandes transfer update

Gareth Bale & Real Madrid

Where will Gareth Bale be in 2019-20?

It’s been a whirlwind week for the Welsh superstar, which began with Zinedine Zidane’s public admission that Bale is no longer wanted at Real Madrid.

That triggered a war of words between Zidane and Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett.

While, over the weekend, reports spread that Bale was on the verge of a one-million pound a week deal to move to the Chinese Super League.

However, Bale’s future was plunged into doubt on Sunday afternoon when reports confirmed a move to China was off.

How Bale’s limbo affects Man United

In the Times on Monday, the domino effect of Bale’s non-move to China is assessed.

Manchester United and Paul Pogba have been affected by Sunday’s revelations, as the Times report:

Should the transfer not take place, there would be serious consequences for Real’s plans to sign Paul Pogba, the Manchester United midfielder, and potentially the harmony in the Spanish club’s dressing room.

Zinedine Zidane dropped Bale from the final three matches of last season and the Real coach has said that he wants him to leave “soon” because it would be “a good thing for the club”.

So will Pogba end up staying at Man United?

Bruno Fernandes transfer update

Sticking with Man United transfer issues, Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several weeks.

Over the weekend, Spanish paper Marca suggested that Bruno Fernandes and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could both sign for Man United before the close of the transfer window.

On Monday morning, the Daily Mail suggest that Man United are inches away from signing Fernandes.

That’s after the player cried during a pre-season friendly. Readers are told:

Bruno Fernandes broke down in tears as he struggled to keep his emotions in check after what could be his last game for Sporting Lisbon.

The midfielder looks set to seal a £56 million move to Manchester United shortly.
