The iPaper have exclusively reported on Liverpool FC’s attempts to win trademarks for popular terms used by the club’s fans.

We knew about attempts to trademark ‘Liverpool’

Last week, attention was raised to FSG’s attempts to trademark the word ‘Liverpool’.

The Spirit of Shankly posted the following reaction to FSG’s activities, strongly condemning their efforts to trademark the name of their city.

‘6 times’ & ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’

Yet, the iPaper now reveal that FSG seem to have gone much further in pursuing intellectual property rights:

Liverpool attempted to trademark “Allez Allez Allez” – words to a terrace chant that had been sung by at least six clubs before they adopted it.

Other recent trademark applications by the club include “6 times” – referencing their sixth European title last month.

The good news for Liverpool fans concerned about these trademark issues is that FSG have so far failed to secure any of these words.

Yet, many fans remain upset about FSG’s efforts in the first place.
