Barcelona to appeal €300 fine for tapping up Antoine Griezmann – MD

Barca fined over Griezmann

Barcelona would complete the signing of Antoine Griezmann in July from Atletico Madrid.

Barca are reported to have paid £107.7m for the Frenchman.

However, Atletico were not happy with the transfer sum.

The club previously released a statement claiming the amount Barca deposited for Griezmann was insufficient:

“The amount deposited is insufficient to pay his release clause because it is obvious that the agreement between the club and Barcelona was done before his fee dropped from €200 to €120 million.” As quoted by AS.

Spain’s disciplinary committee would eventually try to resolve the issue on Thursday the 26^th of September.

It was ruled that instead of Barcelona having their stadium closed for one game, they would pay a fine of €300, as Spanish outlet AS, who ran the headline Barcelona fined 300 euro over Griezmann ‘tapping up’, wrote:

As an alternative to closing the stadium the judge proposed fining FC Barcelona 300 euros for contravening articles 88 and 126 of the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Code.

Barcelona to appeal fine

While you would have thought Atletico Madrid were not too happy about that punishment, you would also likely have presumed Barcelona were over the moon with such a minuscule fine.

However, that is reportedly not the case.

Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Barca are set to appeal the fine.

The report from MD claims Barca will present recourse to the Appeals Committee on the grounds that, “there is a total lack of proof.”

Superman reboot in works at Warner Bros with Ta-Nehisi Coates as writer; J.J. Abrams to produce

Superman reboot movie is in the works. With Justice Leagu e - Snyder Cut version is releasing in March, there's a lot of anticipation. Amidst this, it is being reported that a reboot is being planned at Warner Bros with J.J. Abrams set to serve as producer. Deadline has reported that " author Ta-Nehisi Coates is writing a Superman reboot feature for Warner Bros and DC, which J.J. Abrams is producing under his Bad Robot label." The report also states that Henry Cavill is eager to be back as Superman but did not mention whether he has been approached for the reboot or not. Hannah Minghella will serve as producer. The plot of the film is not been revealed.
