Mauricio Pochettino’s remarkable defence of Hugo Lloris
It was another unconvincing performance, but Tottenham beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday in the Premier League.
Hugo Lloris won’t forget the Southampton game for a while.
With Spurs leading 1-0, Lloris gifted Saints the easiest of levelers.
The French World Cup winning keeper lost possession of the ball in his area, and Danny Ings had the simple job of scoring into an empty net.
However, when Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the incident after the game, the Tottenham manager defended his goalie with the following statement:
You don’t need to blame Hugo, blame me because I demand him to play in that way.
I am not surprised, we are talking about if not the best, the (top) three or five goalkeepers in the world.
Hugo Lloris keeps making mistakes for Tottenham
Is it time Spurs starting looking for a new goalie?
Hugo Lloris has now made nine errors leading to goals in the Premier League since the start of the 2016/17 season, only Asmir Begović has made more (10).

Tottenham 2 – Southampton 1
Tanguy Ndombele scored his second goal of the season to fire Spurs into a 24th minute lead at home on Saturday.
However, Tottenham were reduced to 10-men in the 31st minute when Serge Aurier collected his second yellow card.
Danny Ings leveled in the 39th, however Tottenham soon regained control through Harry Kane.
