Man United’s attacking options
Manchester United do not have the most experienced strike force this season.
United would sell both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer window.
That left Man United with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to fill the void at centre-forward.
Rashford has spent most of his career swapping between the striker and left-wing role, Martial, for much of his stint at United, has been a left-winger and Mason Greenwood is just 17 years of age.
Man United have also had Anthony Martial missing for a few games this season with an injury.
Solskjaer wants creativity and goals
Man United’s lack of an experienced out and out centre-forward this season has been quite evident in their goalscoring.
United have netted just eight in six PL games this season. All the sides in the current PL top-six have scored more.
But Man United fans should not lose all hope as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come out and stated that next time United recruit, they will be looking at the forward area and want to add some creativity and goals.
“Of course, we let Alexis and Romelu go, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that it’s forward that next time we’re going to recruit. We’re looking for some creativity and goals.” As quoted by the Telegraph.
Solskjaer also spoke about letting Lukaku go and how it was time for the Belgian to depart:
“It was time for Rom to go. He knows that. He didn’t want to be here. What is the point in having players that don’t want to be here?
“And there’s no point getting players in that you’re not 100 per cent sure about. When you get players in, you need the right ones that are going to stay here for a longer period and that’s the long-term thinking we have to show. I cannot think, ‘I need a player because this is my reputation’. No, it’s the club.” As quoted by the Telegraph.
