Jurgen Klopp ramps up Liverpool exit talk, German doesn’t want a new contract

Jurgen Klopp keeps talking about leaving Liverpool

Liverpool fans may be starting to get worried about the future of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

In the past few days, Klopp, on a couple of occasions, has spoken publicly about his future Liverpool exit.

Klopp made his original comments about leaving Liverpool to Sport Bild.

After winning Sport Bild’s Manager of the Year award last week, Klopp said the following:

I hope to continue like this, but in two, three years I don’t know what may happen.

Maybe I’ll retire! It doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen, however, but if that were the case, you wouldn’t be surprised.

Klopp on taking a sabbatical

The Liverpool boss has since given an interview with German magazine Kicker.

Once again, Klopp has discussed leaving Merseyside.

When asked whether he’s interested in taking a sabbatical when his present contract finishes, Klopp replied:

It looks like it. Who can now say if he can give it his all in three years’ time?

If I decide for myself that I can’t go on anymore, I’ll take a break and in that year I’d have to make a definite decision [if he wants to continue at all].

I have absolute energy, but I have one problem: I can’t do ‘a little bit.’ I can only do ‘all or nothing.’

But the chances are very high that my energy levels will go up again [after a year’s break], and that I can then do the job the way I want to.

When does Klopp’s Liverpool contract expire?

Klopp is now in his fourth season at Anfield.

He joined the Reds in 2015, while his contract lasts until 2022.

Klopp doesn’t want to sign another Liverpool contract

When considering the latest quotes from Klopp, Times reporter Paul Joyce has told his readers the following:

What is clear is that Klopp is not angling for a new contract.

Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s owners, have made it clear they want him to stay beyond his present deal and his relationship with the president, Mike Gordon, means an agreement would be quickly reached.
