Steve Bruce provides Newcastle injury update ahead of Watford

Newcastle vs Watford

Newcastle are taking on Watford this weekend with both sides looking to move out of the relegation zone.

The Magpies picked up a somewhat surprising 1-0 victory over Tottenham last weekend.

But despite those three points, Steve Bruce’s side are 19th having lost their opening two league ties vs Arsenal and Norwich.

Newcastle’s opponents on Saturday are also in the relegation zone.

In fact, Watford are bottom of the league and are the only side to have not picked up a single point in the PL this campaign.

Newcastle injury update

Ahead of the Newcastle clash, Steve Bruce has provided an injury update on his squad.

Matt Ritchie was subbed off in midweek in Newcastle’s League Cup tie vs Leicester.

Bruce has now, on Friday, revealed that Newcastle think Ritchie will be out for two months:

“It’s not great news. We think he’s going to be (out for) two months. There is ankle ligament damage. Thankfully it’s not six months, but it’s bad enough.”

Bruce also spoke about several other players including Allan Saint-Maximin:

“I have a doubt about Emile Krafth, a doubt about Jetro (Willems) too. (Miguel) Almirón is a bit of a problem. Joelinton we think is going to be okay. Saint-Maximin we think is going to between three weeks and five.”
