Kepa’s inconsistent Chelsea stint
Kepa Arrizabalaga has been on Chelsea’s books for nearly two seasons now.
When the Spaniard signed for the Blues in the summer of 2018 he became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
But Kepa’s stint at Chelsea so far has perhaps not reflected the money they paid form him.
The 25-year-old has been particularly inconsistent this term, with Frank Lampard even opting to bench him for several games.
Kepa would miss four Premier League ties in a row with Willy Caballero taking his place between the sticks.
It was then reported at the beginning of this month that Kepa was growing frustrated with his reduced role, and was ‘ready to quit’ Chelsea in the summer.
Granted, Kepa does look to have regained his spot as Chelsea’s main shot-stopper with the Spain international keeping two clean sheets in a row before the season was halted.
Manuel Neuer & Chelsea
However, Kepa’s upturn in form doesn’t seem to have stopped Chelsea from being linked with replacements.
The capital giants were linked with Burnley’s Nick Pope earlier this week and more recently, the Blues were named in a rather surprising link to Bayern Munich’s, Manuel Neur.
34-year-old Neuer, who is out of contract in 2021, has racked up over 370 appearances for the German champions and would no doubt prove a superb addition for Chelsea.
But Goal are now reporting that Neuer has no intention of leaving Bayern and does not want to play abroad, which is why he would have no interest in following up reported interest from Chelsea.
