New Graeme Souness rant against Man United’s Paul Pogba: ‘He’d be an absolute doddle to play against’
Graeme Souness answers questions in the Sunday Times
Scottish pundit Graeme Souness has answered readers’ questions in the Sunday Times.
As could have been predicted, one of the questions levelled at Souness centred on Paul Pogba.
The Man United midfielder has often been criticised by Souness, whether in print or on TV.
The following question was sent to Souness:
Much has been made of your apparent disdain for Paul Pogba. Is this a misconception? Should you have been his teammate, what words of advice do you feel that you would have offered him?
The former Liverpool midfielder replied by laying into Pogba’s attitude, while he also had a dig at the Frenchman’s performances on the pitch:
Pogba has absolutely everything to be a top player — great athleticism, super technique — but his attitude to the game is the polar opposite of mine.
He goes out with one thought in his mind: “I’m going to show everyone how clever I am today and be the star of the show.” My attitude, the way I was taught, was: “Go out and work harder than the guy you’re in against and see where that takes you.” He’d be an absolute doddle to play against.

What’s going on with Manchester United’s summer tour?
As the likes of the Premier League struggle to reach a conclusion on whether the 2019-20 season will finish, it really shouldn’t come as a major surprise that pre-season tour plans are currently up in the air.
Will any Premier League club travel abroad this summer? Currently that seems doubtful.
Within that context, the likes of the Mirror on Sunday report today that Man United are set to miss out on a 16 million pound windfall.
Man United had planned to travel to India, however that’s up in the air. The Mirror on Sunday report:
Manchester United face being denied a goundbreaking match in football-mad India as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep across the world.
United’s pre-season tour is a huge operation – and a massive money-spinner for the club.
It could cost them £16million this summer if the coronavirus crisis forces them to scrap their usual globetrotting.
