Everton troll Liverpool by turning Liver birds blue before derby

Everton on the windup ahead of Merseyside derby

Everton have turned the iconic Liver building blue ahead of their Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool and fans are loving it.

The Toffees may not have won an Anfield derby in 19 years but there is a fair bit of optimism going into this one.

Marco Silva has breathed new life into this Everton fan base following an extremely poor 12 months.

Ronald Koeman’s Everton looked to be heading for a relegation battle and while Sam Allardyce steered them away from the drop, his style of football did little to appease the fans.

They wanted someone who could bring results while also playing attractive, attacking football.

They have finally found that in Marco Silva and with only one loss in their last seven games, they are reaping the rewards.

Though, their record against Liverpool at Anfield is horrific and fans will be cautious going into this game.

Toffees fans loving Everton troll

However, Everton fans are full of praise for their club this evening.

That is because the Toffees have trolled their rivals ahead of the derby on Sunday.

Liverpool are known for their history and the Liver birds in the city have often been seen as the symbol of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Though, Everton recently moved their offices into the Liver building after Farhad Moshiri purchased space there.

Now, as part of their ‘Blue Crimbo’ advertisements, they have turned both the Liver building and the Liver birds blue just three days before the derby.

A picture of the event was posted on their twitter page with the caption “Iconic city. Iconic building. Iconic bird. Iconic colour. #BlueCrimbo.

To an outsider, that may not seem like much but for fans who live in the area, that could be seen as ‘piss-boiling’ of the highest order.

Blues fans react on social media

As expected, Everton fans were loving it on social media.
