Tony Pulis’ hatred for ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed

Why Pulis hates Arsene Wenger

Tony Pulis is a very experienced Premier League manager.

After winning promotion with Stoke and turning them into a solid Premier League side Tony Pulis has earned himself a name for keeping teams in the Premier league.

However, during his time as a Premier League boss, it appears Pulis made a rather big enemy in Arsene Wenger.

Pulis has played Arsenal and Arsene Wenger 19 times, he has won five of those games, drawn two and lost 12 times.

One particular game between the pair stands out, however.

That game took place in February of 2010 and was the game in which Aaron Ramsey would break his leg in a tackle with Ryan Shawcross.

Speaking to The Sun, former Stoke player Dave Kitson has revealed Pulis’ hatred for Wenger and how it affected the team the day Ramsey’s leg was broken

“I WAS there when Ryan Shawcross snapped Aaron Ramsey’s leg in half. I heard the crack of Ramsey’s leg from the bench. I heard the screaming. And the build-up to the game contributed to this moment.

“Stoke manager Tony Pulis absolutely despised Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, hated the way he played. While Wenger hated the way Stoke played. They were the direct opposite of each other in football terms.

“They used to have little snipes at each other in the media. All week I had never seen a manager so desperate to win a game of football, it was bordering on out of control.

“His desperation to beat Wenger and justify his way of playing football. It crossed the line and went too far.”

Wenger and Pulis

Tony Pulis takes charge at Middlesbrough

Despite the Pulis Wenger feud no doubt being rather intense, it does not look as though we will not be seeing the pair go head to head for a while.

This is partly because Wenger does not currently have a club and secondly because Pulis is managing Boro in the Championship.

However, Pulis could well have Boro back in the Premier League after just one full season in charge.

Boro are currently 3rd in the Championship after 19 games.

They are also just one point off second and two points off top spot.

Middlesbrough also have by far the best defence in the league letting in just 10 goals in 19 games.
