Social media reacts as Boca Juniors vs River Plate to be played at Bernabeu

The Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate will be played at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu, 6,237 miles away from Buenos Aires.

There has been much talk about the Copa Libertadores final this week after fan violence ahead of the second leg.

The game was due to be played last Sunday but just an hour before the game, River Plate fans attacked the Boca team bus. 

That lead to many players having to be treated following a tear gas grenade went off.

The game was eventually delayed for an hour and then again for another before the decision was made to call it off.

It was expected that the game would go ahead the day after, but the game was again cancelled.

It was then later announced that a new ground would be chosen for the game instead of River Plate’s Estadio Monumental.

There was talk of the game being held in Qatar after an offer was supposedly made to CONMEBOL.

Now, it looks as though a ground has been chosen and it’s an unexpected one.

Bernabeu to host Copa Libertadores final

That is because according to reports, the game will actually be held in Real Madrid’s famous stadium the Bernabeu on December 9th.

While it will come as no surprise that a stadium of the Bernabeu’s size was chosen, the location is interesting.

In fact, the Bernabeu is a whopping 6,237 miles away from where the second leg was supposed to be held.

Questions are now raised over how many fans will be able to make the trip, and how the distance the teams will have to travel will affect the result.

The venue has yet to be confirmed officially but if reports are to be believed, it will be the Bernabeu.

After an incredible seven days, the game may finally go ahead.
