Arsenal have made a big decision over Nacho Monreal’s contract situation.
The Spanish defender’s current deal is set to expire in the summer.
The Gunners are keen not to lose the 33-year-old on a free transfer with FC Barcelona and Olympique de Marseille interested.
Monreal contract update amid Barcelona and Marseille
Arsenal offered Nacho Monreal a new contract this morning, according to Alfredo Pedulla.
FC Barcelona and Olympique de Marseille are both clubs who have been tracking the defender.
With his deal set to expire at the end of the season, the Gunners have moved to avoid losing him for nothing.
They have offered him a new contract which is expected to keep him at the Emirates for at least another season.
Monreal has made 31 appearances for Arsenal this term and has proved to be an important player for Unai Emery.

Arsenal are set to have both Nacho Monreal and Mesut Ozil return for their Europa League tie against Valencia CF.
Both players missed the Gunners’ defeat to Leicester City on Sunday.
Ozil missed the game with a ‘bruised foot’, whilst Monreal was out with a calf problem.
