Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon, according to the Evening Standard.
The Cottagers are keen to keep hold of their academy product but will struggle to do so given the level of interest.
His contract situation in west London will also make keeping hold of him that bit tougher.
Tottenham’s advantage in the race to sign Sessegnon
Ryan Sessegnon is keen to remain in the top-flight and also in London, should he leave Fulham.
This hands Tottenham a major boost in taking him off the hands of Fulham and away from the competition.
Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping track of the teenager.
It is also understood that Sessegnon sees Spurs as an ideal club to continue his development.
Fulham are braced for bids in the region of £20-25 million given his contract situation.
His current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2020 potentially forcing the Cottagers to cash in.
Clubs abroad could land the player in January for just £500k in compensation should he not agree a new deal.
Although, Spurs in the summer now appears to be the most likely outcome for Sessegnon.
Sessegnon to Spurs? A good move for both parties
Prior to his step up to the Championship with Fulham, Sessegnon was deemed as one of the country’s biggest prospects.
However, having been unable to help Fulham avoid relegation, his status has taken a slight hit.
But a move to Tottenham could be the perfect next step for Sessegnon given the north London club’s track record for naturing young, homegrown talent.
At 18-years-old, Sessegnon, despite a tough season with Fulham, remains a huge talent and one Mauricio Pochettino could work wonders with.
Tottenham have shown a desperate need for options this term and the youngster could quiet easily have been given playing time in N17.
For Spurs, Sessegnon would offer them a player with huge potential, another great squad option and fill their homegrown quota.
Meanwhile, the player himself would get to work under Pochettino and alongside England’s biggest stars like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks.
