Derby County target Phillip Cocu
The Sunday Times have an eye-catching transfer rumour regarding Derby County.
The Rams, who would have been playing Premier League football in 2019-20 had they beaten Aston Villa in the playoff final, as posied to lose manager Frank Lampard to Chelsea.
So who are Derby looking to sign as a replacement? Dutch legend and former PSV coach Phillip Cocu. The Sunday Times reveal:
Phillip Cocu, the Dutch playing icon who was a multiple title-winner when in charge of PSV Eindhoven, is Derby’s audacious target to replace Frank Lampard as manager.
What’s Phillip Cocu’s contract status?
The good news for Derby is that Cocu is a free agent.
The Dutchman’s last job was in Turkey with Fenerbahce.
However, Cocu only lasted four months at Fenerbahce before he was axed from his position.
Cocu has been on the market since October 2018.
When will Chelsea announce Frank Lampard?
The Sunday Times believe that it’s imminent:
(Lampard) is expected to finally be installed at Chelsea in the next few days.
Chelsea & Mateo Kovacic
Chelsea may confirm the permanent signing of Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid today.
Indeed, some Chelsea fans are sharing around a screenshot this weekend which seems to confirm that Kovacic-Chelsea transfer is already done.
Kovacic spent the 2018-19 season on loan with the Blues.
The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder failed to score for Chelsea last season.
