The Sun on Sunday have attracted a lot of attention after linking Man United with a possible £50 milloin bid for Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

McGinn’s possible move to Man United has been revealed by journalist Alan Nixon.

Readers are told the following:

Manchester United are set to bid for John McGinn — but the Aston Villa star will cost £50million.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the all-action Scot to add the midfield dynamism he feels his side are lacking.

Man United fans have also been told that the club have made “background checks on McGinn ahead of their opening offer.”

What does that actually mean? It’s unclear.

Aston Villa & John McGinn’s contract

If the Man United rumours are to be believed, Aston Villa appear to be in a strong position.

McGinn is under contract at Villa Park until 2022.

24-year-old John McGinn joined Aston Villa from Hibs in August 2018.

Last season McGinn played 48 matches in all competitions, including 40 times for Aston Villa in the Championship.

In the league, McGinn scored seven goals and chipped in with 10 assists for Villa as they won promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.
