Why Liverpool’s transfer business will be limited
BBC reporter David Ornstein appeared on radio station 5 Live on Wednesday.
Ornstein discussed a wide-range of transfer topics including what’s going on at Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool were the Premier League runners-up last season, while they beat Tottenham in the Champions League final.
So far this off-season, Liverpool have yet to add any players to their first-team squad.
According to Ornstein, Liverpool are set to be one of the quietest clubs in the transfer market.
Why? Because having spent significant sums in previous windows, Liverpool feel content with their current first team squad.
So who could Liverpool buy?
Confirming widespread reports, Ornstein noted that Liverpool are set to sign 17-year-old PEC Zwoll defender Sepp van den Berg.
In addition, the Reds are looking to sign a back-up for left-back Andy Robertson. Alberto Moreno is poised to leave Anfield this summer.
Moreover, Jurgen Klopp is keen to add a “versatile forward”, reports Ornstein, although the reporter acknowledged that signing a big-named player to sit behind Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane is unlikely to happen.
Who is Sepp van den Berg?
After playing over 20 times for PEC Zwolle over the last two seasons, Sepp van den Berg has emerged as a serious prospect, not just in Holland but across Europe as well.
Sepp van den Berg had just one year left on his contract at PEC Zwolle, and will reportedly cost Liverpool 1.79 million pounds.
The representatives of Sepp van den Berg have published a highlights clip of their client in action:
