Cardiff 1-Chelsea 2
Cardiff hosted Chelsea on Sunday as they continued their battle for survival.
Cardiff started the day five points from safety after Burnley beat Wolves on Saturday.
However, the Blue Birds did have two games in hand vs Sean Dyche’s side.
Chelsea, on the other hand, were eyeing a Champions League place heading into Sunday’s game.
If Chelsea beat Cardiff they would have gone level on points with 4th place Manchester United.
Cardiff’s penalty appeal & offside
Things did not get off to the best start for Chelsea though.
The relegation-battling side would take the lead in the 46th minute through a superb Victor Camarasa strike.

Chelsea’s day could have got a lot worst shortly after though as Antonio Rudiger nearly gave away a penalty, pulling down Sean Morrison inside the box.
The referee may have missed this one…
Were Cardiff City denied a penalty?

The officials were then once again the centre of the game in the 84th minute.
Cesar Azpilicueta would equalise for Chelsea from a corner.
However, it was quite obvious that the Chelsea defender was several yards offside.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek would then score the winner for Chelsea in injury time.
After Cardiff were denied a pretty clear penalty and Chelsea scored an offside equaliser, some of their fans have taken to Twitter to express their anger.

Cardiff should be at least 3-0 up with penalties! This ref is dire. #CARCHE

Two clear holding offences in the penalty area have been completely ignored by Ref Pawson in the Cardiff v Chelsea game. We are supposed to be watching football NOT Rugby. WHY ARE PREMIER LEAGUE REFEREES TAKING NO ACTION – apart from Mike Dean

@BBCSport Craig Pawson isn’t having his best game. Cardiff should have had a couple of penalties for blatant pulls on the shirt. Chelsea are lucky to still be in this game. #bbcfootball

Chelsea without Hazard are the most boring team. 1 down and should have conceded 2 penalties and dropping dodgy free kick routines done on the break by Cardiff.

That Rudiger pull is a lucky escape! Ref not in the best position and needed to be less deep to see all infringements. Not that they should know that as part of their job. #CARCHE

Rudiger has got away with murder there.. otherwise that would have been a pen and Cardiff would be going 2-0 up. Look at the state of us right now! #CARCHE

This Chelsea result is an absolute farce blatant offside goal and a blatant red card, you can say what you want but VAR is so needed
