Liverpool suffer late injury blow ahead of Tottenham

Liverpool vs Tottenham

Liverpool and Tottenham go head-to-head on Sunday in a must-win tie for both sides.

The Reds started the weekend top of the Premier League.

However, they were only two points above 2^nd place Manchester City who have a game in hand.

City also had a relatively easy game vs relegation battling Fulham this week, which they won. So, Liverpool beating Spurs on Sunday is a must if they want to stay in top spot.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are now well and truly out of the title race.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have gone four league outings without a win.

As a result, they are in danger of slipping out of a Champions League spot.

If Spurs lose on Sunday and Manchester United beat Watford, 5^th place United will go level on points with the North London club.

Naby Keita is injured

Heading into the clash with Tottenham, Liverpool had a few injury concerns.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Naby Keita and Joe Gomez all trained with Liverpool this Thursday as they looked to earn a place in the matchday squad vs Spurs.

Klopp confirms those returning from injury – Shaqiri, Keita, Alexander-Arnold and Gomez – all trained on Thursday. “We will see how they react.” Oxlade-Chamberlain should re-join the group from next week. #LFC

However, on Saturday, the Metro has revealed that Naby Keita has been omitted from Liverpool’s provisional squad to face Spurs.

Keita hasn’t had the best start to life in Liverpool and his injury problems will no doubt only be adding to that.
