Maurizio Sarri responds to ‘f*ck sarri-ball’ chants vs Cardiff

Chelsea lucky to beat Cardiff

Chelsea travelled to Wales on Sunday to take on 18th place Cardiff.

Cardiff started the day five points from safety and a win vs the Blues would have been huge for Neil Warnock’s side.

The game would finish 2-1 to Chelsea but Cardiff should feel very hard done by.

The Blue Birds took the lead in the 46th minute via Victor Camarasa.

Cardiff then had a huge penalty shout turned down shortly after.

Chelsea would eventually equalise in the 84th minute thanks to Cesar Azpilicueta, although the Spaniard was about three yards offside.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek would then rescue all three points for Chelsea in injury time.

Sarri on chants

After going 1-0 down vs a relegation-battling side, Chelsea fans once again took aim at Maurizio Sarri.

The predominate chant sung by the travelling fans was ‘f*ck sarri-ball’, a reference to Sarri’s style of play.

Sarri has since responded to the chants in his post-match press conference:

“I don’t want to answer because I can understand very well. I have been on the pitch for the last 45 years.

“I was really disappointed for my players because they were fighting. Maybe it was better to wait until the end of the match. I can understand.

“Unfortunately I am getting used to this. I need to work in order to change their opinion.”As quoted by football.london.
