Liverpool star Sadio Mane this morning opened up on the Premier League title race, admitting that watching Manchester City in action can actually bring about more nerves than taking to the pitch.
City win again
The back-and-forth nature of the race for the English top-flight title took another turn yesterday, as Pep Guardiola’s Man City reclaimed top spot with a comfortable victory at Fulham.
Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero were on target for the Citizens, in a comfortable afternoon’s work for the champions.
36 – Since the start of the 2011-12 season, Sergio Aguero has been involved in more Premier League goals against newly-promoted teams than any other player (36 – 29 goals, 7 assists). Bully. #FULMCI pic.twitter.com/Jphq0mWLz6

Liverpool vs Tottenham
Liverpool, though, will have the chance to leapfrog City once again this evening, when they welcome Spurs to Anfield.
The clash is set to come as a crucial one in not only the race for the title, but also the battle for a spot in the top-4, since ramped up further by Chelsea’s controversial late turnaround victory at Cardiff a short time ago.
That missed offside could have cost Cardiff the best part of £100m. Whatever people’s feeling on VAR, at least it gets those decisions right.

‘More pressure’
As such, speaking this morning in anticipation of his side’s latest outing, Sadio Mane discussed the pressure that comes with being involved in such a tightly-contested title race.
And the Senegalese attacker went on to admit that he keeps a close eye on the performances of Manchester City, even going as far as to suggest that taking in the outings of the Citizens can prove more nerve-wracking than lining out for Liverpool:
‘Of course we are more focused on ourselves,’ Mane told Sky Sports.
‘But sometimes we look when Manchester [City] is playing, we have more pressure than if we play ourselves!’
‘I want them to lose, and they are so good, and sometimes it’s difficult for them to lose.’
On the prospect of facing Spurs, Mane continued:
‘It could be [the toughest game], but people expect the only tough games to be against the top six. But sometimes that’s not the case because it’s unpredictable.’
‘It could be Southampton. Sometimes you win easily with the top six, and sometimes you get a difficult game. But it’s the same with the teams at the bottom of the table.’
‘So it would be a bit silly to say Tottenham would be the biggest game.’
